These days, if you don't have clear boundaries that allow yourself to rest, rejuvenate, and recharge, you'll get swept away by the current of "shoulds" and "to do's."
I should start signing the kids up for summer camp.
I should take the dog out so she gets more exercise.
I have to run from one thing to the next, just to get through the day/week/month.
Does this sounds familiar?
I'm here with what might be some radical thoughts these days...
We are all starved for spaciousness.
We deserve more than a life of running - running from one thing to the next, running to keep up, rushing from meeting to meeting.
There's more to life than just doing.
There's value to being.
We deserve more sacred rest, time that allows us to connect with our souls.
Let me say that again - we DESERVE more sacred rest. And we're the only ones who can give it to ourselves.
During the pandemic, as a result of job loss and change, I was able to experience what sacred rest really looks like. I spent hours outside, wandering the fields and exploring the river I love. Like many, I had less on my calendar. I got used to NOT being in the daily grind and instead, being in awe of the beauty around me.
Then fear of exposure to COVID-19 changed, with life-saving vaccinations and an evolving pandemic, and my schedule started filling up again.
I found myself, once again, running from one thing to the next. Constantly looking at my phone and my calendar to see what I was late for. Behind on the things that matter to me most - time with family, time outdoors, time to read and write. I longed for those "simpler" days when there were less demands on my time.
Slowly, I started creating systems for myself that prioritize sacred rest - time to myself that allows me to breathe, to be, and to connect to my soul. It's an ongoing struggle, I'll be honest. I don't have all the answers. But I do have a deep love for this type of sacred spaciousness, and a commitment to it for myself and for others.
I'm so excited to share with you what I've learned along my own journey - practical and sacred ways to inspire awe, beauty, creativity, and spaciousness instead of rushing, stress, anxiety and exhaustion.
There are two ways that I'm sharing this in the next few weeks:
- A free online masterclass on this topic of sacred rest: Wednesday, February 22 from 7 - 8 PM ET
- A 6-week group course on this topic starting Wednesday March 15th (early bird special through 2/10!)
I hope you'll join me and give yourself a (sacred) break!
